1. Who we are

Palarid ("we", "us") provides a free browser-based personal productivity application at palarid.com. For the purposes of UK GDPR we are the data controller only in respect of the very limited technical data described below. For everything you create in the app, you are the controller and the sole holder of that data.

2. What we collect

Data you create (notes, habits, budgets, health logs, passwords, files): stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage on your device. It is never transmitted to us. We have no ability to read, recover or delete it.

Technical data: our host (Netlify) automatically processes your IP address and browser user-agent in server logs for security and to deliver the page. This is standard for any website and is retained by Netlify under their policy. We do not use analytics software, cookies for tracking, or advertising identifiers.

Optional third-party features: some tools call external services only when you choose to use them (see section 4).

3. Lawful basis (UK GDPR Article 6)

• Legitimate interests — serving the website securely and preventing abuse (technical logs).
• Consent — where you actively choose to use a feature that contacts a third party, or where you accept optional cookies.
• Contract — not applicable; there is no account and no payment.

4. Third parties (only when you use those features)

Palarid works offline. Certain tools optionally fetch live information. When you use one, your IP address is necessarily visible to that provider:

• Open-Meteo — weather and elevation
• OpenStreetMap / Nominatim / Esri — maps, satellite imagery and place search
• USGS, NOAA — earthquake and space-weather feeds
• CoinGecko, exchange-rate APIs — market prices
• Hacker News API — headlines
• Pollinations.ai (or your own chosen provider) — AI features. Prompts you submit are sent to that provider to generate a response.
• ipapi.co — approximate location, only on the IP Info tool

If you never open those tools, no such request is made. If you add your own API key it is stored on your device only.

5. Retention

Your data remains on your device until you delete it (Data Vault → Clear all data) or clear your browser storage. We hold nothing, so we have nothing to retain or delete on your behalf.

6. Children

Palarid is not directed at children under 13. It contains general reference information (including first aid and health tools) intended for adults.

7. Security

The site is served over HTTPS with HSTS. The optional password vault uses AES-GCM encryption with a PBKDF2-derived key (100,000 iterations) — your master password is never stored and cannot be recovered by us or anyone else. Because data lives on your device, its security also depends on your device being secure.

8. Changes

Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.

What we store and why

Under PECR, strictly necessary storage does not require consent — but we tell you about it anyway. We store nothing that identifies you personally and nothing is transmitted to us.

How to remove it

Open Data Vault and choose "Clear all data", or clear site data in your browser settings. Everything is erased immediately and permanently. You can export a backup first.

By using palarid.com you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service.

2. The service

Palarid is a free browser-based collection of personal productivity tools. It is provided as-is, with no guarantee of availability, and may change or be withdrawn at any time. There is no account, no subscription and no payment.

3. Your data is your responsibility

All content you create is stored on your own device. We hold no copy and cannot recover anything for you. If you clear your browser data, lose your device, or your browser evicts storage, the data is gone permanently. You are strongly advised to export regular backups using the Data Vault.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Palarid unlawfully, to attempt to compromise it, or to use its AI features to generate unlawful content. Third-party data shown in the app belongs to its respective providers and is subject to their terms.

6. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for any loss arising from use of Palarid, including loss of data, loss of profit, or decisions made in reliance on its output. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.

7. Intellectual property

The Palarid name, design and code remain ours. Content you create remains entirely yours.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.

What we do

• prefers-reduced-motion is respected — animations are disabled if you request it in your OS
• Zen mode removes visual clutter; the theme editor lets you raise contrast to taste

Known limitations

Some interactive tools are inherently visual — the drawing canvas, games, colour pickers and satellite map cannot be fully conveyed to screen readers. Where a tool has a text-based equivalent we provide one.
