Cookies and local storage

The short version

Palarid sets no advertising cookies, no tracking cookies and no cross-site identifiers. There is no account, so there is no session cookie either.

What Palarid does store

Palarid uses browser storage rather than cookies. Under PECR these are treated the same way: storage that is strictly necessary to provide a service the user has asked for does not require consent. Everything below is in that category — it exists solely to make the app work for you on your own device.

One third-party script, disclosed.

Our host runs Netlify's Real User Monitoring script (/.netlify/scripts/rum) on page views. It measures loading performance. It does not read your stored content and is not advertising. Earlier copy on this site claimed "no analytics" without qualification, which was inaccurate; removing this script is a tracked task and this page will be updated when it is done.

Your choice, and how to change it

On your first visit Palarid asks one question: whether anonymous performance measurement may run. Under PECR reg 6 that is the only thing here that needs your permission, so it is the only thing we ask about.

It is off until you say yes. Nothing optional runs before you choose.
Refusing is one click, exactly like accepting. The two buttons are the same size and weight. We do not bury "reject" behind a settings menu.
Refusing costs you nothing. Every part of Palarid works either way. There is no cookie wall.
You can change your mind at any time in Settings → Privacy. Withdrawing is as easy as giving, which the regulations require.
Closing the banner is not consent. Pressing Escape or ignoring it leaves everything off.

Your decision, and its date, are stored on your device so we can honour it and evidence it. That single record is itself strictly necessary — without it we would have to keep asking.

Turning everything off

You can block or clear all of it through your browser's site-data controls for palarid.com. Palarid will still load, but it will not remember anything between visits.
