Cookies and local storage

The short version
Palarid sets no advertising cookies, no tracking cookies and no cross-site identifiers. There is no account, so there is no session cookie either.
No advertising is running (as of 16 September 2026), so no advertising cookie is set by anyone. If adverts are ever switched on they can appear only on the eight browse-only tools — Image Studio, Mind Map, Mood Board, Trivia, Heatmap, Map, Palette and Weather — behind Google's consent message, as set out in Privacy §4b; this sentence will change on the day that happens.
What Palarid does store
Palarid uses browser storage rather than cookies. Under PECR these are treated the same way: storage that is strictly necessary to provide a service the user has asked for does not require consent. Everything below is in that category — it exists solely to make the app work for you on your own device.

Our host, Netlify, loads its Real User Monitoring script
(/.netlify/scripts/rum) on page views. It measures loading performance and sends
those timings to Netlify. It does not read your stored content, sets no cookie and is not
advertising. It is injected by the host, not by Palarid's code, so nothing inside the app can
switch it on or off. Earlier copy on this site claimed "no analytics" without qualification,
which was inaccurate. Switching the script off at the host is a tracked task; this page will
say so the day it is done.
Why there is no cookie banner
Everything Palarid itself stores is strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for, which under PECR reg 6(4) needs no consent — and a banner that asked for it would imply we might use your data for something else. We do not.
Until September 2026 the app showed a first-visit dialog offering to accept or reject "anonymous performance measurement". That dialog controlled nothing: the host's script loaded whatever you pressed. It has been removed, because a choice that changes nothing is a way of reassuring you rather than informing you. What runs on a page view is stated above instead, and is repeated inside the app under Cookies → "What runs on a page view".
If Palarid ever adds something genuinely optional, it will be off until you switch it on, refusing will be one click, and every part of the app will keep working if you refuse.
Turning everything off
You can block or clear all of it through your browser's site-data controls for palarid.com. Palarid will still load, but it will not remember anything between visits.
