How it works
Set a starting amount, a monthly contribution and an expected return, and see the projection year by year. The chart makes the point better than the number does: most of the growth arrives late, which is why starting early matters more than the rate.

Common questions
Should I use a real or nominal return?
Use a real (after-inflation) return if you want the answer in today’s money. A common planning figure is 4–5% real for a diversified portfolio.
Does this account for fees?
No. Subtract platform and fund fees from your assumed return before entering it.
Is this investment advice?
No. It is arithmetic on the assumptions you supply. Returns are not guaranteed.
